WORKSHOP: THE ART OF STORYTELLING

For several years, Gerd has taught his documentary photography workshop, “The Art of Storytelling,” in Los Angeles and on location at Southern California’s Salton Sea. As a result of the ongoing pandemic, the workshop will be held virtually for the second year in a row in partnership with Nobechi Creative.

This six-and-a-half-day workshop (spanning 13 days) is geared toward professional and committed amateur photographers who want to take their craft to the next level. The workshop is limited to 9 participants and will take place from February 5th to February 17th, 2022. 

Concentrating on the aesthetic, technical and logistical aspects of photographing with personal vision, the workshop begins with two days of portfolio reviews, instruction, and theory, before participants begin photographing a subject of their choice for a total of seven days. Editing days will be interspersed between, with Gerd guiding students through this process. The final two and a half days will be filled with culling, toning, and sequencing, followed by a joint presentation of the final stories to conclude the workshop.
