Global Peace Photo Award Call for Entry

The Global Peace Photo Award, inspired by 1911 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Alfred Fried and Tobias Asser, is now accepting entries. Formerly called the Alfred Fried Photography Award, the prize rewards imagery representing and furthering the mission of world peace.

It strives to award photography that portrays peace at a high level—uninhibited joy, pursuits to change the world for the better and images that inspire hope for generations to come. Along with prominent jurors Peter-Matthias Gaede, longtime editor of GEO Magazine; Lars Boering, Managing Director of World Press Photo; Lois Lammerhuber, publisher, photographer and founder of the GPPA and others, as a permanent member of the jury, Gerd Ludwig is honored to continually select images that hold such purpose.

Held in partnership with the World Press Photo Foundation, the Award is open to amateur and professional photographers alike, and entry is free of charge. The top five works will be honored with the Alfred Fried Peace Medal at the award ceremony in Vienna, Austria, in September 2020. The winner of Peace Image of the Year—the photograph the jury feels best furthers the vision for a harmonious future—will be honored with a cash prize of €10,000, as well as have their image shown in Austrian Parliament for one year before being added to the Permanent Collection.

The Award is also open to entries from children 14 and younger, awarding a Children’s Peace Image of the Year. The winner of this prize will receive €1,000 and will attend the September award ceremony in Vienna.

Entries are open through May 24. For more information and to enter, visit the Global Peace Photo Award site.
