RUSSIA- THE WILD, WILD EAST LECTURE IN LOS ANGELES
Introduced this year for the first time by Hossein Farmani and Cat Jimenez, the Month of Photography - Los Angeles (MOPLA) is a four-week long celebration of photography, designed to inspire and invigorate the photographic community with a multitude of events (exhibitions, lectures, workshops etc). As part of MOPLA, in his lecture presentation “Russia – the Wild, Wild East” at the Pacific Design Center on Tuesday, April 7 Gerd Ludwig shares published and unpublished images of Russia’s warp-speed transformation from communism to runaway capitalism -- marked by bold aspirations, poignant suffering, and glittering opportunity; the recent rush for Siberia’s black gold; the revival of the Russian Orthodox Church; and his latest, stunning work from Moscow At Night. This presentation is sponsored by Canon USA as part of the Explorers of Light Lecture Series.
