JULIA DEAN PHOTO WORKSHOP

Gerd is conducting a weekend workshop, Magazine Stories for the Documentary Photographer, on February 17-19 at Julia Dean and Assoc. in Venice, California. The workshop will concentrate on developing long-term stories, balancing objectivity with personal vision in photojournalism and documentary photography. After individual portfolio reviews, Gerd will openly share the techniques and personal approaches he uses to create his own work, such as story research; how to approach a subject and establish trust; choice of lenses, lighting, film, flash, and filters to capture atmosphere, mood and spirit; and other working methods of National Geographic photographers. For digital shooters, Gerd will discuss storage options during long term assignments in remote locations.
